Mardi Gras!
From Joan Burns 'Event Planner Extraordinaire, Wedding & Event

It’s Mardi Gras time! With the holidays behind us, this
exciting and traditional holiday gives us a chance to celebrate
all over again! Mardi Gras is March 8th on Fat Tuesday, the day
before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. A perfect reason to
have a party!
Be traditional and go for the costume party and turn your living
room into the French Quarter of New Orleans. Decorate with
purples, greens and gold’s. Have Bourbon Street Jazz on the iPod
and serve spicy Cajun food.
Use Mardi Gras beads for decoration and to give to your guests.
Crown a Mardi Gras king! Make a King Cake. You can find the
recipe on-line and in New Orleans cookbooks. Serve Hurricanes
for drinks just like Pat O’Brien’s.
If you don’t want to make it a costume ball, have masks,
feathers, beads, hats and other props at a table in the entry
way for people to put on when they arrive. And make sure you
have someone taking pictures. Enjoy the party! |
